We are so VERY saddened by the death of Kate Spade. She was a true fashion icon and let’s face it, the designer of most likely one of the top affordable handbags around these days. Her designs were always bold yet playful and filled with vibrant colors and whimsical patterns. Her pieces had a knack for making us feel powerful, but still oh so feminine.
Michelle and I absolutely LOVE Kate Spade. Whether it be handbags, dresses, sunglasses, shoes, or even china, we love it ALL. Michelle and I both are just naturally drawn to the whimsical, cute and girly styles she created.
I have been buying WAY to many “Kate Spade” purses lately. As for Michelle she has been obsessed with their swimsuits. And my daughter LOVES anything Kate spade, mostly because her name is on the tags.
A little about Kate:
Kate launched her brand in 1993 with her soon to be husband “Andy Spade.” The brand expanded from handbags to almost everything like clothing, accessories and home goods.
But the couple sold a majority of their company to the Neiman Marcus Group in 1999 for $34 million and later sold the remaining company to Neiman in 2006 for $59 million. It was then sold it to Liz Claiborne, and that company then rebranded as Kate Spade & Company in 2014. In 2017 Tapestry, who used to be known as “Coach” bought “Kate Spade”.
As for Kate and her husband Andy they recently started a new brand called Frances Valentine, named after their daughter. The brand was launched two years ago in 2016.
This fashion icon will be missed, but her NAME will live on.
Just about the bottom line on me: I love my faith, family, film, fashion and travel. And oh YES, a little obsessed with shoes!
