Carmel is one of my favorite coastal towns on the West Coast. It’s pretty close to us, so the drive is not too bad. Any time that I have had the chance to go to Carmel over the past 7 years, I almost always have chosen to stay at “The Cypress Inn.” It’s centrally located right off of Ocean Avenue which goes right down to the beach. It’s nice to be able to walk to restaurants and down to the beach for their popular “sunset viewing”. Everyone is down there with their wine glasses watching the sunset. (I LOVE THAT) It’s such a calming experience and a must do while in Carmel.
For this trip in particular, I was doing a fast one night get-away with my little sister who was visiting from Utah. I really wanted her to relax and enjoy the old Hollywood feel that this hotel offers. (She loved it)
So the hotel itself is so adorably cute and one of my favorite boutique inns around. I have to mention that one of my favorite actresses from the golden era of Hollywood (Doris Day) is part owner of the hotel. While walking around, you see all of her movie posters and they are always playing one of her movies on the big screen in the restaurant that is named after her son “Terry’s Lounge.” It’s a very quaint little inn and their breakfast is to die for! They have these’s popovers that remind me of German pancakes. They are airy and light and made in a muffin tin, so when they come out of the oven they are super perfect to eat with a little Jam on top.
The living room area is so cute! Thursday through Sunday nights there is a cabaret singer who is singing to everyone who is lined up around the room. (everyone has smiles on there faces.) It’s a total feel good experience.
The rooms are so cute and are perfect for a romantic get-away or a little momma get away with friends. Our room had an old Hollywood feel. Each room has a complimentary bottle of cream sherry and flask of water, as well as fruits and nuts by your bedside.
The fireplace is super cozy to curl up with a magazine or good book before bed. (And by the way my sister is NOT ready that magazine upside down, lol)
For Dinner we picked one of my most favorite restaurants in Carmel as of late, “Forge in the Forest Restaurant.” It’s Dog-friendly (as is the hotel by the way) with heated patio seating, fire pits and beautiful gardens. It’s worth going just for the outdoor area alone. The food is American fare and is super good. (my favorite is the cob salad) We did keep seeing their dessert go by to other tables and swore that next time we WILL save room so we can make sure to order it. It looked so yummy! On a side note… if you are a dog owner and love to dine out with your K-9 they (dogs) have their own menu.
I can go on and on about this cute boutique inn here in Carmel, but it’s better if you just go and check it out for yourself.
Just about the bottom line on me: I love my faith, family, film, fashion and travel. And oh YES, a little obsessed with shoes!
