My trip to Milan Italy during the summer sales!
Where to start? I have a close friend who, just like me, LOVES to shop. Our families happen to travel to Croatia nearly every summer. This time she and I decided to do a fast “mama get away,” and fly from Croatia to Italy. Let me preface this by saying … Italy starts their summer sales on the first Saturday of July and they run through the beginning of September. As you may well know, I have a LOVE (OK, more like an OBSESSION) for shoes, so of course I was on the hunt for some amazing designer shoes at a lower price than what I could find back in the States.
Before I talk more about shopping, I do have to say that I love Milan. To me, it has a little of a Parisian feel to it. The buildings are all beautiful and people there are so nice and accommodating. It’s not as touristy as some of the other cities in Italy, which is something I liked. It’s worth mentioning their mid-day happy hour they have going on each day. I’m sure it’s for all the shoppers to revive, and then of course get back to more shopping. (They have that shopping down so well there in Milan. Shop, Shop, Shop)So, what was the main designer I was looking for you may ask? It was the amazing Jimmy Choo. But before Jimmy, we first stopped at Gucci of course! The Gucci store was kind of funny to me!! They had a line outside the door because I guess they only let so many people in at a time. (This shopping experience was a whole new thing for me.) I literally had to get my phone out and call my girlfriend (who was already inside) to come down to the door so they would let me in to the store.
Just a side note…We did go to Gucci in Florence as well, and LOVED the people and the experience there too. I found these amazing shoes that I ended up not getting. Now being home, I still look at those shoes and wish I would have grabbed them. They were a pretty penny, but I know I would’ve put them to good use.
Back to Milan… Shopping was a full day event, and I wasn’t leaving without some amazing shoes! Our next stops were Valentino, Jimmy Choo and Chanel. Oh, by the way, this was kind of a last minute decision to spend that kind of money on shoes. I thought to myself, I may never have this experience again with my girlfriends, so I went for it.
I found an amazing pair of Valentino’s but they made me lean forward and didn’t compliment my legs. I was totally bummed because they were on sale. So we moved on to Jimmy, and I found two pairs that I loved. I just had to have some help as to which one to pick! In comes my girlfriend and within seconds she said, “pick those they look FAB on your legs!” They were my first pair of designer shoes there in Italy.
They were going to be the first and only pair I bought, but then I went into CHANEL… Oh trouble!!!
Chanel, what lovely experience it is to shop in that store in Milan. But of course I went straight to the sale area and came across these amazing velvet strap shoes. (Is it too much to say that it felt like a movie and they were meant to be on my feet?) Lol! I told them to wrap them up, they are coming home with me!
One of the best choices of shoes I have ever made. They are super comfortable (for being high heels) and SO well made. You might be able to tell I’m a big fan of Chanel now. I also can’t say enough about my wonderful friend and the amazing shopping experience I had with her. I mean, people should pay her to shop with them! She just gets fashion and has the most amazing style of her own. I loved how she kept picking out shoes and outfits for me to try on at these incredible prices. She found this black dress from Zara that I originally walked passed, she grabs it and pushes it toward me saying this would look amazing on you go try it on! (She was right and not to mention it was on sale for $29)
All I can say is that I am shopping with her on my next travel trip!
I have to talk a little about the beautiful hotel where we stayed just outside of the city center. We snagged a pretty great deal for this five star hotel.
Our hotel “Principe Di Savoia” was right next to a great restaurant and rooftop bar. We LOVED the food and the ambiance was great. The yummy cookies that sat at the end of our bed after a long day of shopping wasn’t a bad thing either.
It really was a wonderful time shopping the day away. I’m already looking forward to going back to Milan next year and maybe taking the two hour train ride to Lake Como — me and my perfect shoes I mean.
Just about the bottom line on me: I love my faith, family, film, fashion and travel. And oh YES, a little obsessed with shoes!
