(And not to mention lose some weight)
So it’s the beginning of the “New Year,” and like most of you I’m kicking it off with getting back to eating clean and starting some kind of workout regimen. In this write up I’m talking about a program that REALLY helped me over a year ago and I am trying to get back to it for 2019.
My clean eating was brought on by a good friend who was doing this clean eating way of life. (She lost something like 25 lbs over a 2 month span) She was so great at pushing me to try what she had already made happen for her self.
That being said it was going to take ME making it happen for myself.
I really wanted to get to the bottom of why I wasn’t eating the right kinds of food to fuel my body well, and why I was ok with making myself feel SO unhealthy? So, I signed up for the program. The first thing I did was read about the detox and one of the main things I took away from it was that we self sabotage ALL THE TIME!! It’s so true, and why was I doing it to myself? Was I too busy? Too crazy with too much kid stuff? Maybe it was too much of taking care of others and not enough of myself!? So many reasons, but I just needed to remind myself to stop eating so badly and put myself first, so I could take care of everyone else in my life.
So the program was from “Deanetta May’s,” starting with her 3 day detox cleanse. But instead of 3, I did it for 6 days and didn’t want to start her 30 day challenge right away because we were getting ready to go on vacation in a little over a week. So I did the 7 day jump start, and all together I lost 10lbs right off the bat. (Nothing was working for me over the past 3 years to get rid of that extra baby weight that was just hanging on me)
I started the 30 day right when I got back from our trip. It starts out with the 3 day cleanse again, (That helps get rid of the toxins that build up in your body) and moved onto the good CLEAN food. The first couple of days are hard, but then moving onto the yummy food and making most of the food yourself by prepping (Sunday nights) it’s totally doable. It’s so nice to know what’s in the food. I was really paying attention to what I was consuming. (Reading the back of the packages is a must!)
And by the way, the three day cleanse wasn’t really a detox that you are starving on at all. You have theses great shakes at first, then by the 2nd day you are able to have quinoa and kale. What I liked the most about the detox was I started to feel SO much better with my health. I have had sinus problems for years, and this clean eating started to make all of that go away. (I just couldn’t believe it.)
So, if you want to do this program go to her website and order her detox www.danettemay.com. (I’m not getting paid for this endorsement it just really worked for me) It’s well worth the small amount you pay. And to have all the recipes that she gives you for food prep is what made me be able to make it through the moments of cravings. I wanted to also share with you one of the main yummy recipes that really helped curve my appetite. This one I got off of YouTube:
No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Energy Balls
2 cups GF Oats
½ cup ground Flax Seeds
1 TBS Black Chia Seeds
1 tsp Cinnamon
½ cup RAW honey
½ cup Peanut Butter (natural Organic)
1 tsp vanilla
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
½ cup dark cocoa nibs (or leave out)
Add all ingredients except chocolate nibs to a blender or food processor, pulse several times until combined. Stir in chips or nibs.
Roll into 1” balls, place in Ziploc bag and freeze. (eat two for snacks or breakfast)
Let me end this with telling you that I did really well clean eating until Christmas came along! Then I tried to get back on track and would eat well for awhile, but life happens and as she said in her book we self sabotage and I did. So this is where I’m starting back up for the New Year and crossing my fingers that I will keep it going because I’m sure I’ll feel the good health benefit from it.
Good luck to you all starting a new health regimen for 2019.
