Bora Bora and Moorea: Paradise on a Budget

Since having kids, my husband and I don’t get much time away.  So, about every five years or so we plan a trip and leave our wee ones at home with an auntie or grandma.  Since we only do this once every so often (usually on an anniversary) we really want to make our trips count.  

For our 15 year anniversary we decided Bora Bora was the place. It was on both of our bucket lists.  Bora Bora is not the easiest place to get to nor is it affordable.  This trip took some time, budgeting, and careful planning to make it work.  Below, I will tell you how we were able to have our dream vacation and still stay on a  budget.

Finding the “PERFECT” Shoes in Milan

My trip to Milan Italy during the summer sales!

Where to start? I have a close friend who, just like me, LOVES to shop.  Our families happen to travel to Croatia nearly every summer. This time she and I decided to do a fast “mama get away,” and fly from Croatia to Italy. Let me preface this by saying … Italy starts their summer sales on the first Saturday of July and they run through the beginning of September. As you may well know, I have a LOVE (OK, more like an OBSESSION) for shoes, so of course I was on the hunt for some amazing designer shoes at a lower price than what I could find back in the States.

We loved covering the red carpet for opening night of the festival with William H. Macy, who directed the film “KRYSTAL.” The movie was about a young man named Tyler Ogburn and how his heart condition holds him back from doing all things normal. (college, sports, and love) Things change once he meets Krystal, an ex stripper and recovering alcoholic with whom he starts an unlikely love affair….

Rompers and Jumpsuits – Yes Please!

When I first saw all the rompers and jumpsuits in stores a year or two ago I thought, “No, absolutely not for me.”  I just assumed, being 5’11, they would just not fit quite right or they would feel too short. I tried one on just to see and that solidified my opinion.  Nope! It’s just not going to happen!

Getting Ready for Sundance “Boots and Jacket”

It’s so fun when January comes around because that means the “Sundance Film Festival” is on the horizon, and I get to pick out new (or out of my closet) stuff to take with me. This year I needed a new pair of snow boots and went with these cute one’s from Sorel. They are water proof and so warm.  Not to mention I got them at a sale price of $79! They are normally priced at $160. So, because I was shopping for boots I had to take a look at the jackets on sale and found this gem.  This a PENDLETON jacket (made in the USA) at a price of $179. This jacket normally runs about $500.  Great quality and super cozy!  I have to say that I really had my mind set on a new “Canada Goose Jacket” and this one is the closest to it without the big price tag.
